Our student, Yağız Alp Berk, from the Turkey branch of the Infinite Chess Project, at the age of 9.5, participated in the Aleks Dağlıyan Memorial Chess Tournament held in Kınalıada on July 27th, which brought us great joy.
Despite it being his first experience, Yağız managed to secure a draw in the final match of this 6-round tournament and successfully concluded his first tournament with a score of 0.5/6. With the support and contributions of our coach, Milena Barsamyan, Yağız both enjoyed and learned throughout the tournament. He continued his efforts, even in the final match, and wished to attend the award ceremony to congratulate his fellow competitors who ranked higher.
Yağız has been one of the first students to join the project. He joined us in April 2022 and has consistently participated in the lessons with full motivation and interest. In the tournament, he not only made new friends and socialized but also immersed himself in the chess atmosphere. We are filled with great joy and pride because he has made his family, his coaches, and himself proud! We will continue to do our best to ensure that all our students gain this experience one day.
Thank you, Champion Yağız!
