The FIDE Infinite Chess project celebrates a powerful demonstration of its core mission: to make chess a universal language for cognitive development and social inclusion. We are proud to highlight the participation of students from our partner in Brazil in the 3rd Barueri Chess Cultural Festival.
This community event, held on August 16th, perfectly embodied the spirit of Infinite Chess, bringing together over 60 enthusiasts for a day of strategy and cultural exchange.
Representing the principles of the Infinite Chess project were two talented participants: Pedro Guilherme and Miguel de Oliveira, mentored by their instructor, Professor Luciano Gomes. Prof. Gomes leads the Autism Chess Project, an initiative that directly aligns with the FIDE Infinite Chess framework and uses it to serve people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Support Level 1.
The results were a resounding validation of this approach. Both players demonstrated remarkable skill and sportsmanship. In a thrilling conclusion, Miguel de Oliveira secured an impressive 3rd place in the highly competitive under-12 category.

More Than a Game: Building a Sustainable, Inclusive Future
This achievement is a milestone for local inclusion and a clear example of the achievement of Infinite Chess’s goals. The participation of these players in a traditional community event demonstrates how chess can break down barriers and foster a true sense of belonging.
The success of our students at this festival is a powerful example of the inclusion that chess can bring. It’s about broadening perspectives, forging interdepartmental partnerships, and taking concrete actions that positively impact lives.
This initiative directly supports the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are central to the Infinite Chess mission:
SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being – Through cognitive engagement and community connection.
SDG 4: Quality Education – Using chess as a pedagogical tool for development.
SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities – Creating equitable opportunities for participation.
SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities – Fostering inclusive, resilient community spaces.

The FIDE Infinite Chess project extends its congratulations to Pedro, Miguel, and Professor Luciano Gomes on their fantastic achievement. This story is a brilliant inspiration for our global community, proving that with the right support and framework, everyone can have the opportunity to participate, excel, and claim their place in the world of chess.
The FIDE Infinite Chess project is committed to creating a world without barriers, one move at a time. Join us in making chess truly infinite.
