On 16th November, Himalayan Chess Academy organized a workshop “Feel the Autism – Feel the Difference”, dedicated to teaching chess to people with autism spectrum disorders. The event was attended by 30 participants – parents, children and chess coaches.

The main organizers of this event was Himalayan Chess Academy and Team Members are IA/ FI/ WCM Monalisha Khamboo, FA/FI Yaishash Yashir Khamboo and Shubham Khanal.

Organizers aimed to build a meaningful connection between community and Autism Care Nepal Society, fostering understanding, inclusion, and collaboration. The event introduced parents at Himalayan Chess Academy to Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), highlighting how activities like chess can empower children with ASD by enhancing their skills. It created a space for sharing knowledge, strengthened bonds between the two communities, and celebrated diversity by showcasing the unique strengths and potential of every child. It also paved the path for future collaboration with ACNS. It began with a warm welcome and introduction by the organizers, creating a friendly and inclusive atmosphere.

Participants were then divided into groups under the guidance of PT. Surendra Bajracharya, Chief of ACNS, to encourage teamwork and active engagement.  Group activities were designed to foster collaboration and experiential learning, followed by a discussion where participants shared insights and reflected on their tasks. A PowerPoint presentation by PT. Surendra Bajracharya provided valuable information about Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and highlighted how activities like chess can empower children with ASD.

The event concluded with an interactive session, allowing participants to ask questions and share their thoughts. Closing remarks and a group photo captured the essence of the gathering, celebrating the strengthened connection between the two communities and setting the stage for future collaborations.
