FIDE Infinite Chess project highlighted the chess advantage for kids with autism spectrum disorder on 26 October 2024 during an innovative educational chess event – the Saint Louis Chess Conference. The Conference brought together the leading voices in chess with chess educators, researchers and enthusiasts to learn best practices, to explore the latest research, and to celebrate the game of chess.
Anastasia Sorokina, FIDE WOM Chair and Leader of the Infinite Chess project spoke about the importance of ASD acknowledging, international statistics and meaningful impact of chess on children within the project over 5 years.
The Saint Louis Chess Conference was held at the Chase Park Plaza in Saint Louis, USA. It also featured leading keynote speakers including Judit Polgár, the strongest female chess player of all time and Maurice Ashley, the first African American in chess history to earn the Grandmaster title.
